Infrastructure

Category Copper Cabling

Generally used for Voice and Data cabling in residential and commercial buildings. Also used for DSL & Wireless Internet Service providers. Most homes and businesses use Structured Cabling Systems. This means that each cable is a direct run from the outlet to the panel/rack location. The panel/rack is a centralized location for all the low voltage cabling.

Fiber Optic Cabling

Generally used to interconnect larger buildings, outbuildings and towns. When category cable exceeds distances of 300’ issues can begin to arise on a network. Fiber Optics are then recommended for these long runs. There are different types of fiber optic cable for different types of applications, just as with copper cabling. Be sure you know what your current and future goals are with the fiber.

Wireless
Even though most wireless networks take some form of cabling to provide either an internet connection or power, other factors must be considered when using wireless technologies. For example, what else is using this wireless band? Do any of my current household/office products conflict with my wireless? How can I get the best coverage in my home? Have 4CC come and perform a site survey at your location and provide you with information on how to maximize your experience.
